what about...
- Taillon or #12 Cole jersey?
BUT if you wanted a jersey for someone who will be on the team next year I’d go with a #50 Morton (could be a top 5 pitcher in the NL next year) or a #24 Alvarez (will almost certainly be our starting 3rd basemen on opening day and you could say you supported him all along instead of jumping on his bandwagon when he hits 30 HRs next year).
Other
Clemente or Stargell.
The yellow throwback Stargell jerseys are awesome — and you don’t see many of them.
Someone who will be with the team next year, for sure?
Ray Searage, #54.
Free your ass and your mind will follow.
gag
Presley and Jones? You might be better off buying a Pokey Reese jersey.
I’d buy Tabata, Alvarez, Cutch, or… Taillon/Cole? Get someone from the core, not someone doomed to be professional bench player. That is, unless you think Presley will be a starter 3 years from now.
Sounds like others have the current player
options covered, so why not try something different? Here are some options:
- Tony Pena
- Johnny Ray
- Al Oliver
- Manny Sanguillen
- Elroy Face
- Ralph Kiner
- Paul Waner
- Honus Wagner

Gee, thanks. Now I’m going to be searching the internets for a Kiner Jersey.
Put on your dancin' shoes.
PensFan024,
if you check a site like Ebay, they do offer Pirates jerseys which can be customized, or you can buy numbers and have it done yourself. It’s more work, but if you want something unique, it could be worth the time.
BTW, on those players listed above, I made the mistake of hitting the number key before tyoing the actual number. Here are the true numbers for those Pirates of the past:
Wagner 33
Waner 10
Kiner 4
Face 26
Sanguillen 35
Oliver 16
Ray 3
Pena 6

Only time this number was used
0 Junior Ortiz. My wife still has her Ortiz jersey.
Wow, I almost forgot about Ortiz,
it is rare to see a player wear zero. I do recall Al Oliver with Montreal wearing zero as well.

On the current team,
I’d take 50, Charlie Morton.
I wanted a d'Arnaud jersey
but mlb.com wouldn’t do either a lower-case ‘d’ or an apostrophe.
I understand what you're saying about looking for something different
but by further limiting yourself to current players who are likely to play for the Pirates next year, you really don’t have many options.
SteelStealth listed some good choices for former players, to which I might add:
17 Dock Ellis
18 Bill Virdon
24 Dick Groat
31 Dave Giusti
39 Bob Veale
54 Rich Gossage
Always bothered me the Bucs couldn't
retain Gossage for more than that one year, 10-1 season. Obviously, the Yankees threw a ton of money at him, but the Pirates could have really used him in 1978 and 1980.

the only answer to this question is Veras
but seriously I would go with either Cutch or Jose TA-BA-TA
Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Jack Butler, Greg Lloyd, Andy Russell, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene, Curtis Martin, Willie Roaf, Andre Reed and Jerry Kramer

I just saw a bunch of the black and gold ones with Tekulve, Bibby, Parker, Blyleven and Madlock. I have 3 Clementes, 3 Stargells and one with my last name and 44 that I got 3 or 4 years ago.
I would probably get a Teke or Cobra, what about a Van Slyke or Drabek one?
