Pirates To Get Recommendation Of $2.9 Million For 2012 First-Round Draft Pick

Stay connected for news and updates

Jonathan Mayo has MLB's new values for the first 10 picks in the draft.

1 — $7.2 million
2 — $6.2 million
3 — $5.2 million
4 — $4.2
5 — $3.5
6 — $3.25
7 — $3
8 — $2.9
9 — $2.8
10 — $2.7

Keep in mind this isn't the limit of what teams can spend on these picks, simply a suggestion that factors into the overall draft pool for each team. So if the Astros get a pool of $11.5 million with the first overall pick, and the value for the Pirates' pick at No. 8 is $4.3 million less than the Astros' top pick, the Pirates are probably looking at a pool of about $7.2 million. Which, of course, is a bunch less than any of their drafts from the past four years.
