The Houston Astros are expected to dump general manager Ed Wade on Monday, Ken Rosenthal reports. See, they're not going to be a joke forever. (Insert line about the irony of a Pirates fan saying that here.) We'll see who they hire, but I bet that, before too long, the Astros and their rather large payroll will be back on their feet, and it will be nice not to have them crowding the Pirates' division, as they'll be heading to the A.L. West after the 2012 season. This is a nice opening move by new owner Jim Crane. Of course, the easiest thing for a new owner or executive to do is take out a previous owner or executive's trash, but it's still a good start.
