Well, they struck gold with Vogelsong.
Might as well.
How come that never happens to us?
Oh, come on.
Karstens wasn’t nearly as bad as Vogelsong, or for as long.
I think it's a fair comparison.
I understood the issue to be that the Pirates never have a guy come out of nowhere and do a great job. There are just different versions of nowhere. Vogelsong’s version was the failed top prospect. Karstens’ was the guy who was thought to be nothing more than a long reliever or rotation depth.
Occupy MLB! Down with Seligula!
No worries
we got Brian Burres Jr. on the 40 man
Beat me to it.
By like an hour.
But yeah, if the Steelers lose tonight, then like San Francisco will beat us twice today. First Burres and then football.

DA**IT!!!!
They also signed Emmanuel Burriss!!! How did NH let the Burreiss brothers get away? I"m THRU with this team!!
What does that mean?!
Plaxico
stands a better chance of winning 20 than Brian.
"Don Mossi was the complete five-tool ugly player. He could run ugly, hit ugly, throw ugly, field ugly and ugly for power.

I’m shocked that Burres is 30.
I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

I found this quote...
“You won’t have Burres to kick around anymore.”
Richard Nixon
Good.
Should the Pirates keep Neal Huntington?

Burres
I’ve never understood the hatred for Burres. He did what he was expected to do as AAA depth, and actually had several nice starts. Overall, he wasn’t good, but he really wasn’t expected to be that good.
I think the hatred is that we haven’t had any of our young pitchers (like Lincoln, Owens, Morris, etc.) step up and show they are ready. Hopefully using Burres allowed some of our young guys to develop. I’m glad we’re moving on from Burres, because its time to float or sink with some of these guys we have developed.

I dunno about hatred. I just didn’t want him on the 40-man, and he’s not. I’d be OK with having him back as AAA depth, but they picked up Martis instead. He probably has more of a ceiling.

im wishing we still had Hefner as AAA depth
but our AAA rotation looks pretty deep nonetheless.
