Pirates Sign Jeff Clement
One more team out of the Prince Fielder sweepstakes.
I think this is an indication that Nick Evans and Jake Fox both probably have opt-out clauses.

I guess we need some 1b filler
if both of those guys can go if they don’t make the team. Wonder if he didn’t have nay other offers, or if her really likes Indy?
Cool.
Should the Pirates keep Neal Huntington?

I could swear some reporter did write that Evans and Fox have out clauses of some kind, but I can’t find it now.

Langosch
reported that Fox and Boggs can go to Japan if they don’t make the ML roster. Haven’t seen anything about an opt-out for Evans, though.
Perhaps they should buy out
Fox and Hound pubs and rename them lol….
I was thinking it was Langosch. Thanks.

Didn’t we either trade or let Clements go? I mean with his creaky knees and all that, was he really someone we wanted to resign to a minor league contract?
i guess....
they’re hoping for a Jose Bautista Redux lol
Yep
Assuming Hague ends up in Indy, will he mostly start at 1B or what? It seems to me that we could end up with an excess of AAA 1Bs – not that this is a problem in any real sense, especially since they’re all more or less expendable. I’m just trying to keep track.
Navarro?
Not actually affiliated with whygavs.

Or Harrison
Or some combination of those two, d’Arnaud and Mercer. The Pirates have a bunch of infielders likely to be at Indy this year and they’ll probably move around a lot.
Occupy MLB! Down with Seligula!
Why not?
Clement continued to put up good AAA numbers.
i hope Fox AND Nick Evans both make the major league roster. Fox would be good PH/3rd C hybrid guy.
No chance of that, barring an injury.

re-signing?
or resigning?
but seriously, you get one free recommendation in my eyes after the NFW thing panned out.

Seriously
I have never been more glad you were right (not that I’m admitting I was wrong…)
The glare of the spotlight is harsh, and the pressure that success breeds immense. We revere our heroes, but expect much. And criticism can come as easily as praise.
Perspectives become reality.

I was so
in on NFW and no one remembers. Man Jerry you get all the love haha. You did call it though.

Had to chuckle a bit when I saw this..
Just reminded me of the hopeful optimism of the 2010 season with Clement being given a chance to start at 1st. All of the talk that the move to the NL, a fresh start, getting out from behind the plate, etc. would make him a breakout candidate.
Here we are a year and a half later re-signing the guy to a minor league deal. Looking back on that deal, it sure seems the “throw in” Ronny Cedeno turned out to be the far and away best player, unless I’m forgetting someone.
