PirateFest Players Announced

Kristy Robinson tweets that Andrew McCutchen, Neil Walker, Joel Hanrahan, Jose Tabata, Pedro Alvarez, Clint Barmes, Rod Barajas, James McDonald, Kevin Correia, Dan McCutchen, Jeff Karstens, Chris Resop, Alex Presley, Brad Lincoln, and Michael McKenry will all be at Piratefest, along with Andy Van Slyke, Doug Drabek, Kent Tekulve and Jose Lind. The Bucs' website indicates that Mike LaValliere, Bob Walk and Steve Blass will be there, too.

I wonder if Resop's presence in that list indicates that the Pirates plan to offer him arbitration.

Will there be another blogger Q and A this year?

IIRC, that produced some really good stuff last year.

I’ve heard there will be, but I don’t know that for sure yet.

Hmmm. No GFJ.

Notable

is Pedro being there this year. You may remember he was absent last season. Obviously new faces are new. Evan Meek, Garrett Jones, and Charlie Morton were there last year and aren’t this year. Wonder how much that is worth reading into. Can’t think of any other notable absences at the moment.

God bless Jose for coming back. I love the guy, but his blank smile at these events leads me to believe his grasp of the English language (especially Yinzer dialect) is tenuous at best.

That's okay. He's Jose Tabata!

Dammit – I’m-a hafta set up a kickstarter fund to get me there. Anyone wanna buy me RT air- or train-fare and put me up?

That would cover

a RT train ticket.

Don’t think I haven’t thought of it.

Jose Tabata is the truth

The following is a list of everything Darren McFadden is bad at: 1) Giving birth. End of list.

I hope Chico is planning to wear pants.

Having a guy arrested for not wearing pants and a guy nicknamed Spanky sounds like a good start to a road trip!

Apart from recent short trips to the odd Bucs game, my only real experience of ‘live’ baseball was the two seasons I spent watching championship calibre baseball at Three Rivers Stadium. The most impressive things for me as a baseball virgin at that time, were Chico’s athleticism on the fast infield turf and my step-sister’s ‘A-grades’ that allowed me to marvel at Chico’s athleticism on the fast infield turf for free!

Obviously, I saw quite a few round trippers from the ‘killer bees’ and great pitching from Drabek… but Chico cool!

‘was’ cool – no second chance on BD!

WARNING: BLATANT SOLICITATION

So, gang, chances are better than 50-50 at this stage that I’ll be ale to come in Saturday morning & go to PirateFest Saturday and Sunday, and return to Chicago on Monday.

That said, does anyone know of any REALLY inexpensive accommodations in the area?

I don’t mind zonking out on someone’s sofa or in a spare room or broom closet. I’ll even do the dishes. I’m willing to kick in for gas, buy lunch or dinner at Fest or summat, as well.

Failing an available sleeping area for a few hours a night, if anyone knows of inexpensive places to stay in the area that wouldn’t cost an arm and leg in transportation to and from Fest (thereby negating any savings on a room)…?

While I always appreciate a snappy comeback or clever turn of phrase, I would also appreciate if yunz would not pour teh snarkz all over this post.

Anyone willing / able to help can either post here, or shoot me an email to the addy on my profile.

Cheers and thanks.
