Following cocktailsfor2's method of summarizing the rankings, the Pirates have 4 in BP's list of top 101 prospects in baseball. They have Jameson Taillon at 8, Stetson Allie at 39, Luis Heredia at 81, and Tony Sanchez at 93.
Another useful summary might be this nugget from the comments:
NL Central
Pirates and Reds - 4
Cubs - 3
Astros - 2
Cardinals - 1
Brewers - Goose Egg
fwiw, Kyle Drabek is at 14, and I imagine Frank Coonelly is a little unhappier today :-)
Sanchez is ranked 10th among catchers that made the list, but Goldstein goes on to say in the comments:
Wow, people sure are worked up about Tony Sanchez. I have a hard time blowing up a guy who I think will be a plus to plus-plus defender who hits .260 with 10-15 HR and walks. That's a really good player, but for me, that's not a five-star guy.
Sure sounds better than what a #93 prospect usually works out to be, but I'll gladly take that!
