Joe Beimel Experiences Setback

After being scratched from today's game, both Colin Dunlap and Rob Biertempfel took the time, in-game, to write about Joe Beimel's latest setback, complete with interview:

Dunlap (and there's audio on his link):

Beimel was expected to pitch in today's game against the Boston Red Sox, but was scratched due to discomfort in his left elbow.

Biertempfel's article has more of the quotes written out, if you don't want to listen to the audio:

The Pirates did not reveal the injury until about an hour after the game had begun. GM Neal Huntington turned down an interview request, saying “there is nothing much to speculate on nor discuss due to gray areas on the injuries” to Beimel and lefty Scott Olsen (hamstring).

Obviously, it's one of the reasons - probably the main one - that they plucked the Seattle lefty Garrett Olson from the waiver wire yesterday.

The Pirates have only a couple weeks left to determine whether Beimel will be ready for Opening Day.
