Spring Training Special: Searage & Stark

I will be hosting the Spring Training Special on 104.7 FM tonight from 6-8 PM. We are scheduled to have Ray Searage around 6:20 and Kyle Stark around 7:20. I will try to have a link up to yesterday's interview with Clint Hurdle later today.

For those who didn't hear it, Hurdle said (and NH reiterated this morning) that the team has not decided yet whether to carry two or three catchers. The logic to carrying three would be to "unlock" Doumit's bat. He expressly stated there was zero chance they would ever use Neil Walker as an emergency catcher, but did mention Matt Diaz's name which was interesting. It appears to me that Pearce/Marte are battling for the 4th bench spot and JJ/JRod/Bowker are up for the 5th.

I would go Marte, Bowker/JRod in order to keep guys in the organization and have Pearce be my first call up when an injury occurs. That probably isn't particularly fair to Pearce, but would seem to me to be best for the organization in terms of retaining "assets."

As I mentioned yesterday, if there is anything you would like me to ask either Searage or Stark put it in the thread and I will try to include it. Obviously Charlie did a great interview with Stark already and I will try not to cover too much of the same ground.
