Jenifer Langosch and Rob Biertempfel are both reporting that Chris Snyder's back is feeling better, with Biertempfel quoting Snyder as saying if he had to play today, he could. I hope this means the Pirates only carry Snyder and Ryan Doumit, and Jason Jaramillo gets sent to Indianapolis.
Beimel appears closer to being ready than I anticipated - Langosch also reports that Joe Beimel threw 30-pitch bullpen session with no problems. While I guess Garrett Olson still goes north with the club as the only lefty, I'm not sure that will last long, particularly if he gets bombed in the next couple of days.
Assuming, as was reported yesterday, that Steve Pearce makes the team, the last bench roster spot goes to Jaramillo, Josh Rodriguez or John Bowker. The last two bullpen spots will go to Olson, Chris Leroux or Michael Crotta, with Beimel now apparently taking one of them fairly soon after. Eleven pitchers until then, anyone? (EDIT by Charlie: Almost certainly not, although that would allow the Pirates to keep both Rodriguez and Bowker for a while without risking losing either of them.)
