Pirates Aren't Done, Sign Tim Wood

As foreshadowed on Charlie's post and in comments by management and manager Clint Hurdle, the Pirates weren't done making roster moves. Today they have signed RHP Tim Wood who was released by Washington according to MLB Trade Rumors.

It is unclear at the moment if Wood was signed to a ML contract and is part of the 40-man roster or if he signed a minor league deal. The obvious move, if he is added to the 25-man roster, is to re-assign Mike Crotta to Indy to create a spot. Wood is the prototypical hard-thrower, though not big in this case, that NH favors and is very willing to give a roll of the dice.

Wood pitched for the Marlins last year and was generally ineffective after have a reasonably good 2009. His B-R page is here. This feels very Hayden Pennish to me.
