Im listening to 93.7 the fan, currently led by Ron Cook alone because Vinnie is out. Just wanted to know what people thought about this show in general?

I think that these two are a terrible match. Vinnie is a loud, relatively dumb sports-talk host. Granted that he is more entertaining than Cook but i really think he's terrible. He makes really stupid points very often. I found myself shooting him down with same arguments that Cook was making time and time again. Additionally, he's not from Pittsburgh (as you can tell right away from his ny accent) and you can sense his flawed grasp of the whole Pgh sports atmosphere and perspective. I think this is a much bigger flaw than some may think. This is not his fault but i dont know what 93.7 was thinking, when you have plenty of qualified radio veterans here who are fantastic. Personally, i love Savran and a couple of the others who are/were at espn. I really cant figure out why they brought this loud mouth from ny (granted that he means well and is a nice guy).

i think Cook has great analysis and is very sharp, i mean really sharp. I enjoy his perspective a lot. However, there are a bunch of issues here as well. Firstly, he's terribly boring and possesses this horrible monotonous voice and tone. He doesnt always relate to the fans properly and encourage them even when he disagrees. He's not snappy, but he doesnt disagree with people in a comfortable way. Secondly, and maybe more importantly, he clearly doesnt get along with Vinnie at all! He is constantly shooting down vinnie at every point. This is not an exaggeration in any way, just listen to the show. They are total opposites and are constantly going in different directions. Happens to be that as i listen to Cook alone right now and its so much better not having to hear the constant shoot down of vinnie, really. Its actually a decent show right now, maybe when vinnie isnt ticking him off, hes more personable, because its much better.

i dont know what idiots they have over there in charge of hiring sports-talk hosts. Each host independently is not too great, certainly vinnie. And as a pair its a disaster! Why cant we do this right?
