I was have been pondering the Walker as cleanup for a bit now and cannot wrap my arms around it. I feel like he would be better served in the 3 hole and we should throw Pedro into cleanup (Might as well get comfy where he belongs, not at 6th). I know he has struggled, but he is notoriously a slow starter and seems to be getting the swing of things.
My optimal line today would be as follows;
McCutchen
Tabata
Walker
Alvarez
Overbay
Snyder/ Doumit
Jones/Dias
Cedeno
Pitcher.
I feel like with Alvarez would be protected either side and would see more pitches. The first three spend all day on base, and Overbay is a solid clutch batter to follow. Then some sporadic power to finish. Thoughts?
Also I am pleased with the Pirates so far, just wish for some offensive consistency.
