Around the Minors, Week of 4/27 - Jameson Taillon Debuts
I figured I'd start a new minor league thread, since tonight features a game all of us will want to keep an eye on. Jameson Taillon makes his first professional appearance for West Virginia tonight against Bryce Harper and Hagerstown. First pitch is at 7:05, although it hasn't been announced whether Taillon will be starting. Either way, I'm guessing we won't see more than three or four innings from him. Once again Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects will be live tweeting the proceedings from Charleston. Also, I don't want to look too far ahead, but Appalachian Power Park will host none other than Dennis Haskins, aka Mr. Belding later in the week, because why wouldn't they.
Elsewhere, Brad Lincoln starts for Indy in a matinee against Norfolk at 1:00. Altoona is in Harrisburg tonight at 7:00, with Jared Hughes taking the hill for the Curve, and Bradenton takes on St. Lucie at 7:05. The starting pitcher is listed as TBD, but based on their rotation it should be Kyle McPherson, who is off to an excellent start, with a 1.14 ERA and a 22:0 K/BB ratio in 23.2 IP.

Josh Harrison left the game right after his first hit….hope it isn’t some kind of injury. Lincoln effective so far, giving up 1 hit and striking out 2 through 3IP.
I'd recommend like the previous thread
keeping this up there for people. However, it seems that on gamedays, people don’t bother with this one (it’s good reason, but it’d still be good to go somewhere with less than 600 comments and see the day’s minor league outcomes)
off topic
is the pirate game on Root tonight? i saw the pens start wasnt till 8 so i thought maybe they were on VS.
Indy game on now
Josh Harrison may have been injured after a hit in the first. Was replaced by D’Arnaud…
Lincoln has given up 4 runs in 5.2 innings; I am not watching but he’s getting his share of Ks, but the hits are hit hard, 3 doubles and a home run, so I don’t know if we should be particularly expecting him in Pitt anytime.
Harrison pulled up lame
coming out of the box. Didn’t seem to be limping much on the way back to the dugout – hope it’s just a tweak, and not a pull.
BTW, if you watch the replay or highlights, that large fellow behind home plate in the yellow Gathering shirt is me.
Free your ass and your mind will follow.

Gorkys!
2/3 just hit a 2-run double! I really hope he can find himself, and join the Bucs as a CF, and give PIT the rangiest defensive outfield in the game!
because Presley has options and Paul does not.
you want to sit Presley on the bench in Pitt and have him pinch hit every other game like Bowker??? now THAT makes no sense
what difference does it make?
Presley will (likely) not be a major player with this club. If you keep putting fringe players on the bench, the bench ain’t gonna get much better. Also, I assume Bowker was pinch hitting every other game, because Hurdle didnt have enough confidence in him. I assume Paul will play more. If not, it’s moot anyway- we might as well get a washed up guy that is likely to slug a few homers than look for good young players.
this looks like a good place for the minor league gamethread for today
Jarek Cunningham hit by pitch… again
