Kyle McPherson Takes No-Hitter Into Ninth Inning
The biggest breakout season in the Pirates' farm system this year just got a little bit better. Kyle McPherson took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against Brevard County on Tuesday before allowing a one-out homer to Sean McCraw. McPherson had six strikeouts and one walk. He now has 55 strikeouts and six walks on the year. Here's the MiLB.com recap.
McPherson also threw seven no-hit innings in one start last year before reaching his pitch limit and being removed.

Great to see pitchers other than
Taillon, Owens, Wilson, Morris, Locke starting to make a name for themselves in our system.
With Alderson regaining some of his form and McPherson, our pitching future is looking a lot better.
It helps our pitching future to have him pitching better...
But with Owens struggling, Morris hurt again, and Locke struggling in a return to AA, it is going to take more than McPherson stepping up to make up for it, unless those guys can right the ship
Morris hurt again? did i miss something?
i thought he pitched 3 innings the other day and got the save
Not hurt again as in recently...
just another season where he wasnt able to stay healthy
He tossed a gem, didn't he?
is a cool kid, and a heckuva pitcher.
I did a phone interview with him on Monday that’ll be up on Rumbunter in a day or two. I’ll post a link when it’s up.

That’s just because his name originally was Kyle Vizquel.

Don't tell that to Dejan Kovacevic
and his smart arse Wil Ledezma tweets
so new promotion candidate, McPherson to AA? Ill have to do a fanpost on it, maybe after his next start.
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend!
Aren't McPherson, Irwin, and Lorin
All candidates to move to AA? That rotation could/should get awfully crowded (possibly including Alderson?)
Too bad
Pribanic has been the only consistent starter for the Curve. Maybe they challenge Locke or Morris by throwing them into AAA, but it seems unlikely with that rotation being fool of prospects/backup plan veterans and the major league rotation being pretty decent.
Hate to say it
Bob Smizik worte an article when the season started about how awsome this kid is.

The unmentioned part of this story: for some bizarre reason — spitting in the face of baseball superstition — the Mauraders sent out a Tweet in the 8th inning (with CAPS and all) proclaiming that McPherson was just 3 outs away.
Surrendering a hit in the 9th inning was about as predictable as the sun rising tomorrow. Mauraders marketing owes the kid a no-hitter. :-)
