I live in Altoona and have watched Tony Sanchez play and he is struggling bigtime both offensively and defensively.
Mesoraco is by far the best catching prospect that is ready for big league action. His stats last year AA & AAA combined were 302 avg...26 HR...75 RBI...and 377 OBP....this year at AAA...323 avg....8 HR....42 RBI and 404 OBP.
In order to get Mesoraco the Pirates would have to give up something in return, whether it be Pedro Alvarez and Karstens or McCutchen straight up, maybe the Reds could throw in Stubbs for Cutch and Karstens. But I would much rather see Pedro Alvarez gone than Cutch.
Mesoraco is a far more polished hitter than Alvarez is....Mesoraco also hit over 400 in spring training this year for those of you that might say he hasnt proved anything against major league pitching.
Pull the trigger Neal !!!!!
P.S. ...Diaz has got to be released, he is lousy. Get Pressley up here and let him prove himself or not...He deserves the chance either way, even if I and obviously the Pirates Brass dont think he is a Major League player.
