Pirates Reacquire Josh Rodriguez
The Pirates have reacquired former Rule 5 pick Josh Rodriguez for cash. He'll be assigned to Class AAA. I was a fan of acquiring Rodriguez the first time, so this is fine with me, but I wonder how they'll use him. He hasn't played much this year, and Chase D'Arnaud is Indianapolis' regular shortstop. It looks like Rodriguez will be a backup. It's also likely that he'll see some time at second base in the meantime - Brian Friday has been Indianapolis' second baseman, and he hasn't hit a whole lot.

As I noted in the FanPost
JRod hasn’t hit at all in Columbus, appeared to miss some time with injury and has been playing mostly the outfield. He played zero games at SS or 2nd base. Cleveland obviously has no use for him.

I see you’ve been drinking. Yeah, all the Pirates’ problems would be resolved with an unproven SS.

I have been burned with this statement before
but how much worse can D’Arnaud be

This is . . . this is . . .
this is not the “big splash” I was hoping for.
Anyway, welcome back, Josh.
I hope you aren't holding your breath waiting for that "big splash"
cuz I don’t see one coming. Not NH’s style.

At this point, Ciriaco is probably hiding under a pile of clothes
in the team lockerroom, hoping that no one will even notice that he’s still on the big club. Every day he’s here he earns a MLB paycheck and gets closer to an MLB pension.
