An obvious target...

I'm pretty optimistic about the Pirates as an organiztion but even I'm surprised at the PIrates record right now. Yes, the pitching has been great so far this year, but I can't believe were winning major league baseball games with guys like Overbay, Harrison, Wood, Cedeno, Diaz, Brown, Mckenry, etc..in the lineup every night. That means if I were GM I would be looking to make moves asap to stay in contention for as long as possible. One obvious move I think the Pirates will explore is...

Trade for 1B Yonder Alonso (Overbays .227/.307 line and K rate in the 20s is just not acceptable. I know its risky to trade within the division but Alonso is having another good season in AAA while being blocked by Joey Votto for the foreseeable future. They've talked about moving Alonso to LF, but I can't see it with his speed and having guys like Hermida/Frazier having great years in AAA also. Given Cincinnatis depth I believe this makes Alonso very expendable which may make the asking price very reasonable. Only down side I see is Alonsos struggles against lefties.
