John Wehner on Joey Bats

John Wehner made some comments about Jose Bautista tonight that were so ridiculous that I felt the need to share them and rant about them. During the broadcast, John Wehner talked about seeing Jose Bautista when he was coming up through the minors and talked about how he was a guy that you stood around and watched BP for and just knew that their was something special there. He made it sound like he always knew that the production Jose has now would come and that apparently he was just a late bloomer.

First John, if YOU saw all of this, don't you think anyone else would take notice. You are saying that you saw a guy that could produce MVP Offensive numbers while he was in the minors. This is complete BS and I wish someone would call him out. Bautista was never even considered a top prospect and the pirates gave him 3 years in the big leagues to show he was worth something. We traded for a prospect (Andy LaRoche) who was valued and appeared to have more potential than him, and that made Bautista available. Anyone who says they were upset about the trade when it happened is a liar. Bautista became an after thought after LaRoche arrived. Obviously it was the wrong decision, but do not act like you knew that all along "Rock".
