Jeff Karstens posted seven strong innings, going toe-to-toe with Cole Hamels, and the Pirates' bullpen pitched five scoreless frames after that to lead the Bucs to a 2-1 victory in 12 innings. Jose Tabata hit an RBI single off Chase Utley's glove in the 12th inning as Xavier Paul came around to score to win the game for the Bucs. Karstens continues to post very good numbers this season, largely because he simply doesn't walk people anymore, so when he's able to keep home runs off the board, he usually does well. He only allowed five baserunners tonight, and one of those was on an infield single.
