Indianapolis Indians radio announcer Scott McCauley tweeted this morning that the Indians made a late roster move before their 10:35 game at Buffalo this morning. C Kris Watts has been added to the roster replacing C Wyatt Toregas.
With Chris Snyder's injury last night, the Pirates obviously need to make sure they have two catchers available for tonight's game. This can play out two ways: 1.) Toregas has flown to Pittsburgh as a precaution but Snyder turns out to be okay and is able to suit up tonight. My guess is this has zero percent chance of happening. 2.) Snyder is out tonight and the Pirates need a back-up catcher. Toregas has been recalled and is added to the 25-man and 40-man roster. Because the Pirates have an open spot on the 40-man, they only need to make a move to clear a spot on the 25-man roster.
Again here the Pirates will have two options: 1.) If it looks like Snyder may only miss a few games, they could keep him active and option Pedro Ciricao back to AAA Indy. 2.) If it is clear Snyder will miss more than a week they can place him on the DL. Either way, the Pirates have gotten a lot weaker at the catcher position in the last ten days.
