Everyone seems to agree on Taillon, Heredia, Allie and Marte, but after that things get interesting. Here are the two players I want to hold onto under any circumstances:
Grossman made steady, if marginal, improvement in 2010 but he is really putting it all together in his repeat season at Bradenton. He has a .420 OBP with 81 walks and has boosted his SLG % 81 points while reducing his K/9 significantly. He'll be 22 in the Eastern League next year, and is developing into a legitimate top ten prospect as a leadoff-hitting corner OF.2. Colton Cain
Cain is a big powerful lefty who has consistently missed bats at every level, the most significant measure of any young pitcher. His WHIP is a league-leading 1.04, and his K/9 is 7.2. Next to Taillon, the most promising prep pitcher Greg Smith has drafted.
Regardless of who we ultimately give up, I would rather get back a RF or 1B we can retain for two to four years, such as Hunter Pence or Billy Butler, than two months of Carlos Beltran.
