Hitter we need against the Cardinals and Next week!
Career vs. Cardinals:
AVG: .397
OBP: .435
Slug: .517
Steals: 4 in 15 games!
That's right these are the Career numbers for Jose Tabata against the Cardinals in his brief career!. Why are we all hating on this guy and wanting Hunter Pence? We need to get our exciting and speedy 22 year old above average fielder back here asap! He would be the biggest improvement to the team we could get back this year, much more than Pearce, Cedeno, Doumit, or even Pedro! Does anyone have any up to date info on Tabata? There has been nothing for 48 hours since he left his Rehab game at 11:30 on Wednesday? Will he be in the lineup in Bradenton tonight?

Ugh
1. The sample size is so small that you cannot derive any predictive value.
2. Even worse, the Cardnals do not pitch, the pitchers do. Each individual pitcher has a different skill set, and some of the pitchers in the stats you sited probably don’t pitch for them anymore.

Honestly, you join the board 3 weeks ago, and already you start making FanPosts like this. Unbelievable. JFC
now now, just an eager fan. but yes use the fanshot feature for something like this please.

Maybe I'm a cynic
and I apologize to Shad Myers if I’m wrong, but I feel like this happens a lot. And I fell like its the same set of assholes who just start new accounts so they can post dumb crap. Its annoying. And I’m cranky. So there.

We seem to have a lot of new folks
which is why I worked out a new way to get the charts in a recent post.
What does that mean?!
asshole?
looking inward? We should welcome all BUcs fans and not be Dicks. C shint was at least polite.
Sorry, crappy day yesterday so I was a little pissy.

I don't think anyone is hating on Tabata,
they’re just making rash decisions, and saying they’d rather keep Presley than Tabata.
You Cant.....
get a hitter back that is injured and not even playing in his rehab games.
oh and yes, i believe he is playing tonight, i saw that in some other thread, correct?

i have looked everywhere for confirmation of this
cant find it anywhere

Trade for Pence and move Tabata to !st.
Can Tabata handle first? Maybe he can turn into another Al Oliver for us.

I hope you’re sarcastic here. I get so ill everytime I read someone suggesting so and so simply shift to 1B because… “Hey, it’s an easy position to play”. This is even worse because a fair amount of Tabata’s current and future value comes from his defense.

I am more interested in getting all of the best hitters in the lineup. Plus I love Pence’s game. He would be the best player on the team from Day 1.
A lot of outfielders learn to play first to exend their careers. He might not fit this year, but he could probably try it out in spring training.
so you were serious...
do you miss John Russell? he loved playing people out of position. Tabata is never, ever going to play 1B… in small parks he could be a passable CF.

Exhale...
More than a few problems with that one
He would be the best player on the team from Day 1.

I think you're severely undervaluing defense
A defensive run saved is just as good as an offensive run scored. The value of the improved defense on the pitching, while almost impossible to quantify, has certainly been very valuable. Although Overbay has been terrible with the bat, he has provided SOME defensive value, which may have been part of the reason the whole infield has been better. Either way, Jose Tabata moving to first base would be a bigger mistake than making John Van Benschoten a pitcher instead of a 1B
The glare of the spotlight is harsh, and the pressure that success breeds immense. We revere our heroes, but expect much. And criticism can come as easily as praise.
