Cardinals 9, Pirates 1

Stay connected for news and updates

I got home at about 8:30 to watch this one, and at this point it was already over. It looks like whatever All-Starriness that once covered Kevin Correia has washed away, as he's now gotten rocked in two of his last three starts. This one featured homers by Yadier Molina and Lance Berkman, who had a huge shot to dead center. Also, Brandon Wood started at first base, which is incredibly depressing.

On the bright side? Three innings from Tony Watson saved the bullpen a bit, although Jose Veras being unable to get things done in the ninth didn't really help. Oh, and snappy retro uniforms.

The Pirates really need to pick up a win tomorrow to keep pace with the Cardinals and Brewers.
