What if the Pirates go 4-3 or better against the Braves and Phillies?
There are many varying philosophies about making a move at the deadline. Many folks on this board have said that we are not built for beating the contenders in the NL if we even make the playoffs. This week we face the NL favorites (PHL & ATL) and their repective aces. If (and that is a big if) we take both series or even finish .500 or better for the 7 game stretch, what would you do?

Then they’ll return to Pittsburgh no worse than six games over .500 heading into August.

Probably watch the game on August 1 against the Cubs and hope they can keep it going.
but seriously . . .
As tough as this next stretch is going to be, these games are no more or less important than any others.
If we perform well it’ll be crazy fun, but that still won’t justify selling our best prospects for rental players.
If we don’t perform well it will be less fun, but that doesn’t mean we still couldn’t grab a low-cost piece to shore up the offense.
Shit they can lose and Ill still drink!
