What if the Pirates go 4-3 or better against the Braves and Phillies?

There are many varying philosophies about making a move at the deadline.  Many folks on this board have said that we are not built for beating the contenders in the NL if we even make the playoffs.  This week we face the NL favorites (PHL & ATL) and their repective aces.  If (and that is a big if) we take both series or even finish .500 or better for the 7 game stretch, what would you do?

What if the Pirates go 4-3 or better on the road trip?
They have proven they can hang with the NL favorites on the road - let's go for it this year!

They are still overperforming and statistically cannot sustain this success - nothing changes

Let's see where we are in the standings - the Cards and Brew Crew are swapin' series with the Cubs and 'Stros

Then they’ll return to Pittsburgh no worse than six games over .500 heading into August.

Probably watch the game on August 1 against the Cubs and hope they can keep it going.

You stole my thunder...

My first thought after seeing the title was they will be 56-50.

but seriously . . .

As tough as this next stretch is going to be, these games are no more or less important than any others.

If we perform well it’ll be crazy fun, but that still won’t justify selling our best prospects for rental players.

If we don’t perform well it will be less fun, but that doesn’t mean we still couldn’t grab a low-cost piece to shore up the offense.

Especially since they are not division teams. If it were say the Brewers and Cardinals, then it would matter more. Like it would have been much better to go 2-1 vs St. Louis rather than 1-2. But with our lack of offense, we should be happy we got away with even one win.
