Several observations

The Pirates are in a situation they have never been in.  Per the standings today, the Pirates would have the 19th pick in the 2012 draft.  If we signed a type "A" free agent this offseason, the Bucs would forfeit our first round draft pick as the only the first 15 picks are protected.

We are 18-10 against the Central division.  We are 18-5 against the Central division minus the Brewers.

The Pirates had 71 quality starts in 162 games last season or  44%.  The starters have managed 50 quality starts in 86 games or 58%.  This doesn't count starts like the Ohlie/Karstens combo in April or Maholm going 5.33 with one earned against the Tigers.  To put this in perspective, the Astros have 40 quality starts in 86 games of 46%.  You wonder how we lost 105 games last year.
