Eric Seidman at Fangraphs has a piece about cheaply available players who could help a contender. The first name jumped out at me -- Conor Jackson has been playing pretty poorly overall but hits lefties well. That sounds like it might be what we need to fill the Matt Diaz-shaped hole as a righty corner/platoon bench player.* As an upcoming free agent seems like he might be available for one of our Rule 5 crunch guys. What do you think? *Fun fact: Jackson has two home runs this year. That doubles the combined total of every player who started last night's game on the bench.

But he also mentions Clint Barmes, who seems like he might be a somewhat intriguing candidate, if he isn't too pricey.
