Lets Talk About Pedro Alvarez

He seems to be a real hot button for the fanbase.  Some think he isn't the answer at third and should be be moved to first this year, some want him to the be put back at third, some of the outlier fans want him traded, coughlunacycough.

He is expected back around July 15th, so will he be the missing power that the Bucs need or will he be another punchless table setter?

Before he went to the DL he was hitting .208/.283/.304 with 2 home runs, 6 doubles, 12 walks, and 42 ks in 36 games.

During his rehab assignment he is hitting .222/.400/.333 with 1 home run, 0 doubles, 6 walks and 12 ks in 10 games.

Last year he hit .256/.326/.461 with 16 home runs, 21 doubles, 37 walks and 119 ks in 95 games.

So, assuming he comes back on July 15th, he will have 16 games (including the deadline day) to prove he may be the answer for the Pirate power outage.

With all of this known...

A couple of questions for the board...

1. Should the Pirates even consider Pedro's power potential when looking at upgrading the team?

2. Do you think he can rebound to last year's numbers this year?

3. Is 16 games an adequate sample size to judge his power?
