Jose Tabata's Return Now Slated For Tuesday
Jenifer Langosch writes that Jose Tabata's return will be delayed until tomorrow, since Pirates "want to see him run first." That means we'll have to wait another day to see whether Pedro Alvarez will be sent back to Indianapolis.

thats kinda weird, isnt it?
hes already in pittsburgh. they could have already seen him run in Louisville.
Yes. It’s weird. David Todd speculated that the Pirates might just want more time to figure out what to do with him.

That's really a good idea.
Give Pedro two weeks at Indy (more if they make playoffs) and see if he can get back on track, then let him swing in MLB against Sept. call-ups, see if he can get any kind of groove going. Season’s shot now, might as well see who’s going to earn PT.
Pedro CAN be sent back down, can’t he? Or do they have to invent a phantom injury + rehab?
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard
They want to see him run? Yeah, here’s an idea, check the box scores from his rehab stint in Indianapolis… he hit like… five doubles. Have him run before the game, make it a game time decision. This is honestly one of the stupidest things ever and I have no clue what they could want to see.
Here's how you they should do it
Clint: Jose, go run some sprints down the foul line.
Jose: Sounds good.
Take a look at him running, if he struggles, don’t play him, if he looks fine, then get him in the damn lineup. I don’t see why this is so darn difficult.
Clearly buying an extra day to figure stuff out....or something
But yeah what a lame explanation for it. Want to see him run? Why not just say they want to give him a day off before he starts in Pitt?

Yeah, I get that's the case
But what makes this even more upsetting is the fact that this has been known now since the start of the Milwaukee series! They’ve had a few days now to figure out who they want to send back down to Indy. An extra day, at the expense of Tabata, is just not necessary.
And Langosch made it sound like...
Tabata just made the trip this afternoon. Indy played in Louisville yesterday afternoon. There’s no reason they couldn’t have had Tabata travel last night and be in Pittsburgh this morning.
Just silly.
