Jason Hammel Likely To Be Dealt This Offseason
Per the Denver Post, via MLBTR. Anyone else interested in a pitcher who has produced over 8 WAR across the last two and a half seasons?

As with everything
It’s a question of price. We do have surplus prospects we can’t protect from Rule 5 and room to take on salary.
We also have a whole bunch of guys who already should be competing for Maholm’s job, even if none of them have exactly dazzled in 2011.
How was his higher FIP worth 3.8 Wins?
Morton has a better FIP and in only 30 less innings is at about half that WAR. I’m not convinced on this Hammel guy.
Two reasons
1. Park factors. You’re much more likely to give up a HR in Colorado than in Pittsburgh.
2. Offense is down this year. If teams are scoring fewer runs then the replacement level FIP is lower. I haven’t seen a completely up to date figure, but I believe scoring was down something like .17 runs per team per game this season.
I didn't think FIP had anything to do with scoring
unless you mean home runs are down also. I though it was just K, BB, HR with no park adjustment. It still seems odd that HRs would be down enough to make him half as valuable with a better FIP
Sorry, I meant FG WAR.
Should’ve been clear on that, I guess.
