(Brad Lincoln > Kevin Correia) & (Rodriguez > Maholm)
In watching the game last night, I realy dont see why we need Correia next year. Lincoln is at worst, a younger version of Correia, with slightly better stuff who costs almost nothing. If there was a way to get houston to take correia, and we get Wandy? Sounds rediculous, but, we are in a position to take on some salary, and Correia, is the kind of pitcher that a rebuilding team needs on their staff, a totally mediocre guy, who doesnt cost much and can presumebly teach young guys how to fall asleep in a hotel room. What this would do is, essentially, replace Maholm with Wandy, and disocount his salary by the amount of Correia's contract.
Our Staff would then look like this:
1. Karstens - 1.5 mil (arbitration number?)
2. Rodriguez - 10 mil
3. Morton - 2 mil (arbitration number?)
4. Mcdonald - 500k
5. Lincoln - 500k
Total ; 14.5 million
As opposed to:
1. Karstens - 1.5 mil (arbitration number?)
2. Maholm- 8.5 mil (estimate based on ted lilly's contract)
3. Morton - 2 mil (arbitration number?)
4. Mcdonald - 500k
5. Correia- 3mill
total: 15.5 million.
Which would you rather have? Now its probably a stretch to get the astros to take correia, but, you never know, rebuilding teams do weird stuff.

I don't have much faith in Lincoln,
but he’s always been better than Correia IMO. I’d claim Wandy, start RossO, and use Lincoln as an injury replacement for Mr. Ohlendorf.
Trade Correia, renegotiate with Maholm. If Maholm can take reasonable money, I’d keep him around and go with a 6-man rotation.
I totally forgot about Ross O. to your points, i would rather have Ross O in the pen and start lincoln and i dont think we could or should afford both maholm and rodriguez.
Ohlendorf is going to cost at least $2MM+ next season, if we keep him...
do we want our long man in the pen making that much?

I don't think Lincoln
can be an effective starter in the Bigs – long term, anyway

other than a wind aided shutout of the Cubs last season, Lincoln hasnt really pitched an above average game.
for a power arm, he doesnt really have much Oomph out there.

From watching him,
I just don’t think he’s got the talent, IMO.

i think he is a prototypical 4/5 guy, one that every team, other than the Phillies, needs. I think he can put up a 4ish era, and give his team a chance to win more often than not. that is all we get from correia and we pay him 3 mil. I also, (small sample) realy like his stuff last night. I have never seen it look so sharp.
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.
I think he’s too much of a case of “a blind squirrel finding a nut.”
Maybe that’s just me, but hey.

Eep. Tough one.
All in all, I think I’d rather have KC.
That being said, it’s like comparing a blow to the head to a kick in the stomach.

how hard a blow to the head and on which part?
Are you allowed to tense the stomach muscles or is it out of the blue?

One concern I have with him starting long term is the tendency for his velocity to go down fast after about 50 pitches. He actually kept it up pretty well yesterday compared to what I remember seeing from him last year. I understand a lot of pitchers are like this, but I’m talking about a pretty serious drop.

ORRRRR
what we could do is keep McDonald and Lincoln since they’re cheap get rid of everyone else, call up Owens, Wilson and Locke. Save $$$ and sign Albert Pujols! Who is with me!

But where is Al gonna play if Fielder is at first base? Can Al’s D hold up at third for a full season?
Put on your dancin' shoes.
ah
forgot about us getting Fielder too. We won’t have to worry about the D, we’ll just move to the AL. If we have the money to sign Fielder and Pujols, we can just pay off the MLB to switch us leagues lol

Or...
Why would they even want him? Can you imagine him pitching in their homer paradise?
