I guess they couldn't get even the proverbial bucket of balls for Lyle Overbay..... DFA'd on 8/1 and released on 8/5. Seems that his signing as a free agent does NOT add to Huntington's reputation as a talent evaluator. Or perhaps it's more appropriate to blame the lack of success of his off-season free-agent signings (Correia, Olsen, Overbay, Diaz) on lack of financial resources.
Yes, I know, Correia had a good first half..... but he hasn't been so good lately. With Olsen and Overbay released and Diaz contributing little, I'm wondering whether the team would have been better off not signing any of them.
