I was sitting on the third base side and this GIF doesn't capture the best part of Rowand's stance
He squats down, clenches his butt, and just starts wiggling it. His backside does not stop moving until the AB is over. I’m convinced he only bats like this because he determined it’s the best way to show off his butt (which, I must note, is exceptionally tight. I don’t typically notice stuff like that, but he thrusts it in your face if you’re on the third base side). Rowand’s is the most bizarre stance I have ever scene.

I would definitely prefer his range in PNC’s left field, but maybe they don’t think much of Ludwig in RF

Playing Army
I spent the last two months in Fort Lewis, WA and Fort Carson, CO training and learning how to be an officer so that I don’t look like a completely moron when I commission next year. I was completely disconnected from the world in WA, and being on such an early schedule, it was tough to find time in CO. But now I’m back east and starting school again, so I have a lot more free time

Its a lot more comforting to me when Charlie gets out of jams
When Correia or Karstens or another pitcher does it, I don’t know, it strikes me as more luck when it does skill, but with Chuck, it just seems more like skill. He’s a bred ground ball pitcher, so I feel like he should be doing that.

The age old debate: Is Larry Walker a HOF (from the Root broadcast for those not watching)
A lot of people say yes, a good amount of people say no. He has top 20 all-time OPS and SLG, as well as fantastic career OBP. I know most people are quick to say he did a lot of work in Coors Field, but I guess that is just a variable that I don’t think should impact whether or not you let him in or not. Regardless, even if you look at his OPS+ to neutralize Coors Field, he still finished very high up there. He played superb defense, and honestly, the only true knock on him is that he never won a World Series, but I think that won’t matter.
My vote: He’s in
If he played for the Yanks and won three World Series, he'd be in already.

I bet Cutch/Presley could of taken that one for an inside the park jack
Just seems like it would of been. I know this is strictly hypothetical, but you’ve got to assume they are both at 2nd base by the time that ball hit the wall based off of how slow it carried, but by the time the outfielder picked it up they both probably would of been at 3rd and I think they would of scored actually pretty easily.
I honestly thought Lee could have had it if he didn't jog the whole way
I realize now he wasn’t jogging and is just REALLY slow, but no doubt Cutch or Presley could have gone all the way around. Stand up inside the park HR

Off topic but
Wehner talked earlier about Larry Walker being in the HOF. Got in a discussion with a friend about other Rockies potentially making it. I never realized how ridiculous Todd Helton’s numbers were
Career .973 OPS, 2300+ hits, 345 HR
2000:
.372 42HR 147RBI 1.161 OPS
and in 2001 he had a down year:
.336 49HR and 146RBI 1.117 OPS
Helton is still unreal
he is the man. through all the injuries, he is still an awesome player. hit a home run tonight actually to go with his three hits. hes just a professional hitter

Just saying...
Via the dictionary for its definition of battle:
A lengthy and difficult conflict or struggle
I’m really not trying to argue hear and I know I’m getting into silly semantics, but were these last ten days a struggle? I would say they were. They weren’t a struggle like WWII, they were not a struggle like Vietnam, but by definition, they were certainly a struggle. Was it a lengthy struggle? I would say by baseball terms, it certainly was. Now, I’m not saying these guys are soldiers and I’m not saying they are battling like they are in the Middle East, but I have no qualms when someone says a team is battling, etc…
probably because
the concept of a battle, what actually occurs in a battle, cant even register unless you actually been there,, done that. suffice to say my above comment stands and i will gladly take my leave of this particular thread because the game is in fact over

And I gotta admit, it felt great to get a lot of hits off Vogelsong.
So onto my love rocket, climb, Inside tank of fuel is not fuel, but love.
Vogelsong was pretty good imho, he stayed right on the edges of the zone, but he was just off. I can see where his success is coming from.

I just mean considering he did nothing for us all those years, it felt good to get some payback against him.

Exactly
Not like Joey Bats who killed the Bucs that whole series up in Toronto
Give the Japanese some credit: guys like Colby Lewis and Ryan Vogelsong benefited from playing there.
And it looks like Bryan Bullington has so far as well.
As far as Vogelsong’s performance, I thought he strayed way too often into the strike zone, giving the Pirates a bunch of chances.
I think his 2011 is a good story thus far, but I’ll be curious to see where he is and what he is doing in baseball this time next year.
