Pirates Vs. Dodgers, 18 September 2011

Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers, Sep 18, 2011 4:10 PM EDT

Next Game

Pittsburgh Pirates
@ Los Angeles Dodgers

Sunday, Sep 18, 2011, 4:10 PM EDT
Dodger Stadium

Brad Lincoln vs Chad Billingsley

Sunny. Winds blowing from left to right field at 5-10 m.p.h.

Complete Coverage >

James McDonald allowed a three-run homer to James Loney in the first inning of the game last night, so it seemed like it was over when it had barely even started. The Pirates got one back on a double by Josh Harrison in the second, but Juan Rivera hit a two-run bomb in the third. McDonald lasted only three innings. The Pirates looked like they might have a chance to get back in the game in the eighth when they loaded the bases with one out, but Kenley Jansen struck out Ryan Ludwick and Garrett Jones to shut things down. The Pirates are now 68-84; it would be really nice to avoid losing 90.

Lucwick with 3 K’s last night… Not good.
Let’s get a win today.

so when does the game start?

by ludwigs9th on Sep 18, 2011 4:57 PM EDT reply actions

It starts when the starting pitcher gets knocked out of the game. Wait another inning or two. Maybe.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 5:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Spoke to soon. That’s it.

Aaron Thompson’s in — game on.

Geez. Loney’s seasonal numbers will look pretty good after this series.

OMG…9-0. Bad News Bucs.

80 walks for Cutch. I believe he’s the first Pirate to reach that plateau in 5 years.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 5:22 PM EDT reply actions

Way to strand those inherited runners Resop. The Pirates have only needed 112 pitches to get nine outs.

Wow...

we’re a bad baseball team.

It is sad. I figured it would be quiet with the Steelers playing, but…

If I miss a game, I like going through the thread to see what happened and peoples’ thoughts about it. That’s what I was expecting to do today, but I don’t blame people for just letting this steaming pile sit there.

Excellent.

I don’t care how many we lose by, I just want that higher draft pick.

Should the Pirates keep Neal Huntington?

There’s no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you’ll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Looks like

Resop did a helluva job…

At least Velez didn’t get a hit. He’s now 0-33 this year.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 7:23 PM EDT reply actions

wow..

just gotta shake your head. This makes me sad

by JSteelers86 on Sep 18, 2011 7:24 PM EDT reply actions

Good game for XP. Hitting about .280 against right-handed pitching.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

Geez.

I was done watching football and thought I’d check in on the Bucs. Man. What is there to even say?

Wait til next year?

We're down 2 TDs?

To think

that two months ago we were in first place watching the scoreboard. Could not imagine watching meaningful baseball in September. Makes me wonder if its ever going to happen…

by JSteelers86 on Sep 18, 2011 7:33 PM EDT reply actions

Loney flies out. Rennie Stennett is safe.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 7:37 PM EDT reply actions

I wish Brad Lincoln was a better pitcher...

but from what I have seen he looks like a marginal 5th starter, reminds me of Daniel McCutcheon. If we are counting on Lincoln to hold down a spot in the pen or in the bullpen we are losing 90 again next year.

by dack2001 on Sep 18, 2011 7:40 PM EDT reply actions

XP

has 40% of the Pirates’ hits today.

That’s the way Ronny. Way to get it started.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 7:46 PM EDT reply actions

And now Ciriaco. This is getting exciting. Might cover the 13-run spread.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions

yep...

hate to say it… but the pitching looks bad next year… but…. I’ll still be up to watch baseball in April…. I just hope Pedro starts hitting the damn baseball…. that is a must next year to make the 2010 campaign remotely tolerable.

by JSteelers86 on Sep 18, 2011 7:46 PM EDT reply actions

wow..

what a typo… I meant the 2012 campaign.

by JSteelers86 on Sep 18, 2011 7:47 PM EDT reply actions

I hope Pedro hits like it’s 2010. I wasn’t completely sold on him, but I never thought he’d slug less than .300.

by bolton on Sep 18, 2011 7:48 PM EDT up reply actions

AP 0-5 and under .300 for the season. Good night.
