Community Prospect #21
Alen Hanson received 28% of the vote to sneak into the top 20. Justin Wilson finished with 25%, just one vote behind. (As discussed a couple threads back, I'm only planning on doing run-offs if the vote is actually tied. People seemed cool with that when we talked about it, so I hope it's all right with everyone.) Here's our list:
1. Gerrit Cole
2. Jameson Taillon
3. Starling Marte
4. Josh Bell
5. Luis Heredia
6. Robbie Grossman
7. Tony Sanchez
8. Kyle McPherson
9. Stetson Allie
10. Nick Kingham
11. Rudy Owens
12. Jeff Locke
13. Jarek Cunningham
14. Alex Dickerson
15. Zack Von Rosenberg
16. Colton Cain
17. Jordy Mercer
18. Zack Dodson
19. Clayton Holmes
20. Alen Hanson
I'm removing Brock Holt from the poll after he failed to get a vote in the last one. If you want to vote for someone not listed, add his name under "others" and reply with a +1.
For the record, I'm planning on doing this as long as people stay interested, but probably not beyond 50. This poll will run for 24 hours.

I hope he has a monster spring training to force the Pirates in platooning him with Garrett Jones at first-base.

Wish he was a lot higher. I probably would have voted for him around 13-15 area if he was on the list before (not complaining just stating).
Should the Pirates keep Neal Huntington?

I’d probably still have him behind Mercer because I think Mercer can give above-average D at short, but truth told I didn’t think of Navarro till epoc suggested him. But Navarro’s very close with the 15-18 prospects for me.

For myself...
…I’m probably not going to be voting much past 25-30 because I frankly don’t know enough to make the necessary fine-grained distinctions after that. Can’t speak for anyone else though.
Jose Tabata is the truth
The following is a list of everything Darren McFadden is bad at: 1) Giving birth. End of list.
I'll be severely disappointed if Jose Osuna
doesn’t crack the Top 30 here
Well
Using epoc’s tester list as a starting point, I figure these players:
Justin Wilson
Bryan Morris
Matt Curry
Jose Osuna
Ramon Cabrera
Yamaico Navarro
Phil Irwin
Mel Rojas
Matt Hague
Adalberto Santos
Gustavo Nunez
Gift Ngoepe
Elevys Gonzalez
Eric Fryer
Colten Brewer
Tyler Glasnow
Jake Burnette
Taylor Lewis
Candon Myles
Tyler Waldron
Andrew Lambo
Carlos Paulino
Zac Fuesser
Wes Freeman
Willy Garcia
Harold Ramirez
Yhonathan Barrios
Dennis Hurtarte
Dilson Herrera
Dovydas Neverauskas
Exicardo Cayones
Rinku Singh? (he might just be developing into an actual prospect of sorts)
could be fun to rank (there could be others I missed as well) which would be 52 players if I counted correctly. This makes me think that I’d like to see this end up as a top-50 list. Also, running the list out that far could give us a shot to rank a surprise breakout player in 2012. Kyle McPherson (for example) was ranked as Pirates Prospects’ #49 prospect going into 2011 IIRC and look how much his big year changed people’s opinions on him. Last year he had the upside of a spot starter or middle reliever now a year later he is looked at as a solid candidate to be a ML #3.

Unless he’s on the list and I missed him (which is certainly possible).

This is a bit belated, due to my being out of town...
but WOOO HOLMES.
