Starling Marte tripled and homered, leading to both Pirates runs in a 2-1 win over the Braves.

Jeff Locke walked five batters and ran into a good start from Paul Maholm, but still managed to come out ahead as Starling Marte hit a triple and a homer, leading to a 2-1 win.

Locke walked two batters in the second but bailed himself out with a double play, then walked two in the third and only paid for it with one run (when Jason Heyward singled in Michael Bourn). Otherwise, Locke stayed out of trouble while whiffing six over six innings.

Meanwhile, the Pirates tied the game in the third when Starling Marte led off with a triple to left and Chase d'Arnaud brought him home with a ground ball. Then, in the fifth, Marte blasted a home run to center when Maholm left a changeup up in the zone. I'm sure Marte's trot around the bases needed work or something and he'll be back on the bench tomorrow, but in the meantime, he scored both the Pirates' runs tonight pretty much by himself.

Jeff Karstens, Tony Watson and Jared Hughes finished the game relatively quietly for the Bucs. (That was thanks in part to Clint Barmes -- Brian McCann hit a line drive off Karstens' glove in the seventh, and Barmes charged in and threw to first for what must have been the slowest 1-6-3 putout of all time.) For Atlanta, Maholm struck out eight over seven innings. Chipper Jones, playing the last regular-season series of his career, went 0-for-3 with a walk.
