The Twins sign two former Pirates minor leaguers.

The Twins have signed two former Pirates, Eric Fryer and Tim Wood.

It's hard to get a read on Fryer's offensive potential, if he has any; his track record is all over the place. He's now 27, however, and has had about 300 plate appearances in AAA, in which he was horrible. Even as AAA depth, he doesn't have much to offer, unless you think his strong hitting at Bradenton in 2010 and Altoona in 2011 mean something.

Wood, on the other hand, is good AAA depth, although if Pirates fans remember him at all, it will be for a poor big-league stint in 2011 in which he somehow managed to pile up three losses in three weeks. The worst of those was a five-and-a-half-hour game in Cleveland in which Wood came on in the 11th and allowed a three-run, walk-off homer to Cord Phelps.
