I am willing to admit that non-tendering Jeff Karstens is absolutely unfathomable and I really am wondering wtf the FO is doing. However, unlike everyone else, I do like the Morton signing.

Why? Because its only 2 million! 2 million is hardly somehing worth getting mad over considering Russel Martin's signing bonus was 2 million. I think Pirate fans have gotten into a this-year mode, which I can understand. But by paying Morton 2 mill to pitch 75 innings tops, you make it likely that we can have him in 2014 at 3 mill or less. So really its a 2 year, 5 million deal for a guy with immense upside. But if you insist on looking at it for just this year alone, consider how nice it will be when our starters are getting worn down and we can call on a fresh guy that we know will give us quality innings.

While I think the reason why most people hate this signing is because of Karstens being DFA'd, I still felt it necessary to remind people that this could turn out to be a great deal for both this year and most likely next.
