A quick roundup from around the league:

-P- The Rangers signed A.J. Pierzynski for one year and $7.5 million, which looks like a bargain compared to the Russell Martin and Mike Napoli signings. Pierzynski's age and personality probably didn't work in his favor here.

-P- The Twins have signed Rich Harden to a minor-league deal. This is a good landing spot for Harden, who will certainly get opportunities with Minnesota if he's even close to being healthy.

-P- Casey McGehee has signed with Rakuten, in Japan, for $1.5 million.

-P- No one claimed Scott Van Slyke.

-P- Then there's this.

I wrote about half a post entitled "Brief Interviews with Hitless Men" about this, then axed it because it wasn't very funny (at least not beyond the original pun) and I was being mean to Barmes for no great reason. But you can sense a sort of desperation here. Barmes was still a fairly valuable player last year despite his hitting, but I'm not sure his offense is ever coming back.
