The first of many?
From SI.com Oil Can Boyd admits to pitching while high on cocaine. Will he be the first of many? How long until Dave Parker and other Pirates cop to this? Either way, I'm not impressed. Pitching on cocaine is child's play when someone's thrown an LSD no-no

Oil Can Boyd
is promoting a book, and what he claims happened is a way to drum up interest. My guess is it would be difficult to catch a fly ball if someone recently used that drug right before a game. Regarding Dock Ellis, and the supposed LSD no-hitter, I’ve never heard any evidence it ever actually happened. Ellis like to draw attention to himself, and he came out with this story a number of years after the no-hitter.
In terms of Dave Parker and the numerous other ballplayers who used cocaine across MLB during this time period, maybe we’ll see this claim in the future the next time someone is trying to sell a book. Countless players in all sports were using in the early 80s. Obviously, the infamous investigation and trial was in Pittsburgh, but that involved players from other teams as well. Kansas City had an investigation, and you could have had many cities involved, I do recall there was the incorrect perception at one point that cocaine was basically harmless, not much worse than marijuana.
"... he came out with this story a number of years after the no-hitter."
What was he supposed to do, talk about it in a post-game interview?
Just sayin’…

Of course pitching high on cocaine is not impressive
Cocaine is a performance enhancer.
Opium... now that would be impressive!

used to slide headfirst so he would break the vial of cocaine that he kept in his back pocket
