has Burnett spoken yet?

have’nt read any reports on Burnetts thoughts? I’m geussing he would’ve had Pittsburgh on his no trade clause if he REALLY did’nt want to come hear?

Just interested to hear if he’s at all excited about coming here? Hopefully he genuinly is…i geuss he’ll speak tomorrow when they introduce him?

Fresh Start

I think Burnett will be looking forward to a fresh start, it seemed like he was receiving heavy criticism in New York. As a professional who’s had success in the past, I can’t imagine he wouldn’t be motivated to pitch near that level again. He does know one of the free agent acquisitions from his Florida days.

Barajas was his catcher in Toronto

It was Burnett’s best season by far. Hopefully they can rekindle whatever magic they had together

I'm looking forward to him addressing the media

Just so I can see if he Derrick Lee’s us or not.

"free country"

Too bad you don’t really share that view when dealing with personal opinions but okay.

Without re-hashing something that - really - is meaningless,

I was responding to you, to say that you are free to comment any way you wish.

I also am free to do so – or not, as I wish.

This “not talking to me” stuff is far too high-schoolish to me to reply to.

End of discussion on my part.
For reals.

Hey your the one who said you weren’t going to talk to me, not the other way around. So in reality yoir the one being a bit of high schoolish for giving me the silent treatment just because I was expressing a personal opinion…to a poster that was not you.

Now I was hoping we’d get AJ from day one of the rumors (the ones in December), because I thought he’d be real good for us & a good bounce back candidate. However, that age is scary for power pitchers (besides Rodger, Nolan, Unit). Does everybody think AJ will have 2 good years left or are we all hoping for one great year & a trade at the deadline/offseason?

So Bud Came Into Work Today

Flunky: “U’hhh excuse me Mr. Selig, Neal Huntington is on the phone. He asked that you approve the Burnett trade.”

Bud: “Who?”

Flunky: “U’mm, Neal Huntington sir, the Pirates GM.”

Bud: “Carol Burnett? I always liked her. That show she was on with that Lou Grant guy was funny”

Flunky: “I believe that was Mary Tyler Moore sir.”

Bud: “U’mm, yes, yes, you may be right”

Flunky: “U’hhh sir, the trade?”

Bud: “U’hh, yeah OK. Whatever.”

As the flunky turns to leave, Bud calls after him…

“Hey kid, you looking for a good used car that runs well?”

PG is reporting that the Bucs put Gustavo Nunez on the 60 day DL because of an ankle injury. That cleared a roster spot for Burnett. Nunez was the rule 5 pick they took, so they might try to hide him on the 60 day DL for half the season

You need to be careful with R5 picks and the DL. If they spend too much time there, they don’t lose their R5 status for the next year.

And...

instead of Garrett Jones as their LH DH…the Yankees end up with…

Raul Ibanez…at $1.1M (with incentives to $4M)

Ibanez agrees with Yankees

by Thunder on Feb 20, 2012 10:08 AM EST reply actions

Yankees were really upset after Garrett was only making $2.25m and not $2.5m. Oh what they could have been with saving $250,000.

now that I know how it's spelled

I hear it in my head as “Sweetle B,” rhyming with “Beetle tea.”

Not actually affiliated with whygavs.
