Buccos outfield

As a number of our outfielders tear up early spring ball, it is all anyone can talk about. It is a great problem to have considering we still have some holes to fill, but what moves do we make. I will start with Gorkys. I do think he could play in the major leagues, just not for us. He has decent defense and could slot into the leadoff role for some teams. I wouldn't expect much back from him, but not sure what good he will do for us in AAA or sitting on the major league bench as the 5th outfielder. Next is Mclouth.... he was awful in Atlanta, but it wouldn't shock anyone to see him have a bounce back year. Do we simply keep him as the 4th outfielder... does he hit his way into the starting lineup? Do we end up trading him if he does bounce back, and if so what is he value of a player who was traded once already and completely flopped? Then you have Presley and Tabata who should be our opening day starting LF and RF. Can Tabata stay healthy? Can Presley keep up what he has done at every level over the last 3 seasons? I think these are good bets to happen. Now you get into the really interesting part. Marte is really pushing for a spot on the team. I can understand wanting him to play at AAA this year, but lets wait for the guys batting average to drop below .666 before we dismiss him from the starting lineup. This scenario seems very similar to when we brought Cutch up. Mclouth signs a new contract and gets traded to make room for a stud in the minors. Now I always thought the Cutch would be better than Mclouth. Cutch and Marte both could be superstars in this league. Obviously something needs to be done to make room for everyone. My opinion is to have all of them on the market and see who brings us the most in return. I think that any 3 in the outfield would be able to play above the league average, so it really depends what people are going to offer for them. Obviously Mccutchen would net the most, and Tabata after that. The big safety valve we have is the Grossman and Bell are still in the minors and while it is too early to tell from Bell, I think Grossman has shown that he is going to be in the Majors no more than 2 years from now. We have the outfield makeup to go out and fix the rest of the team, it is just how we decide to do so. I would love to see a Trumbo come over, and maybe look to get a blockbuster young arm as well. A nice addition to the pitchers we will have coming in, and all of a sudden in 2014 and 2015 we are contenders for the world series and not just talking about if enough things fall in place we can break .500. No matter what happens, it has been fun to watch all these guys perform this spring. Short sample size or not, they are playing well and its all anyone can talk about.
