Wrap-up: Top 10 Most Disappointing Pirates Since Y2K

Our poll for #10 on the list wound up with Brandon Moss and Pedro Alvarez in a tie. Rather than try a run-off, we'll let the tie stand. So..... our Top 10 (actually 11) Most Disappointing Pirates Since Y2K are:

1. Andy LaRoche - acquired by NH (with Moss, Hansen, and Morris) in trade for Jason Bay
2. Oliver Perez - acquired by DL (with Jason Bay) in trade for Brian Giles
3. Chad Hermansen - drafted by CB in round 1 (10th overall) of 1995 draft
4. Derek Bell - signed by CB as a free agent
5. Ian Snell - drafted by CB in round 26 of 2000 draft
6. Akinori Iwamura - acquired by NH in trade for Jesse Chavez
7. Dave Littlefield - hired by Kevin McClatchy
8. Bryan Bullington - drafted by DL in round 1 (1st overall) of 2002 draft
9. Brad Eldred - drafted by DL in round 6 of 2002 draft
10(T). Brandon Moss - acquired by NH (with LaRoche, Hansen, and Morris) in trade for Jason Bay
10(T). Pedro Alvarez - drafted by NH in round 1 (2nd overall) of 2008 draft

Some observations:

- Of the 11 people on the list, Huntington brought in 4 while Cam Bonifay and Dave Littlefield brought in 3 each. We don't want to forget Littlefield himself, who was hired by Kevin McClatchy.

- #1 Andy LaRoche and #10T Brandon Moss both came in the trade for Jason Bay.

- Three were first round draft choices: #3 Hermansen by Bonifay, #8 Bullington by Littlefield, and #10T Alvarez by Huntington.

- If we eliminate Littlefield from the list as being inappropriate, we still have a strong Top 10.

- After selecting our top 11, we still had 38 Pirates who had been nominated. That's a LOT of disappointment.

Thanks to all who participated.
