Blue Jays 8, Pirates 5

The Pirates put together a fair amount of offense in this one, with Rod Barajas going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Nick Evans hitting an opposite-field homer, but they allowed eight runs and three errors, and that doesn't include what sounded like a very awkward play in which a Blue Jays batter hit a ball back toward Evan Meek and two runs came in to score. (I was listening to the game and it still wasn't entirely clear to me what happened.)

A couple interesting bits:

-P- There was a cat on the field at one point. I'm not sure I've ever seen that.

-P- It was cool to hear the ovation the McKechnie fans gave Robbie Grossman. I'd never really thought about this before, but the announcers pointed out that one benefit of having a Class A+ affiliate in Bradenton is that when Marauders players make it to big-league Spring Training a couple years later, the year-rounders who come to Spring Training games have already formed connections with them.

-P- Jake Fox caught and Evans played third, which might give some indication regarding how the Pirates might be thinking of using them. There's a pretty good chance that one of them will make the team.
