Tim has an update on Kyle McPherson, Stetson Allie and Zack Von Rosenberg over on the excellent Pirates Prospects site. There is not yet a timetable on McPherson's return from the DL with shoulder inflammation, but the fact that he has resumed throwing I'll take as a sign that things aren't too serious. Allie was horrendous in his debut for the Power. He was removed from the roster afterward, but it was a paper move because the team needed some arms in the bullpen. On his show Sunday Neal Huntington did say Allie had some tightness in his elbow, but he is now throwing as well, and is expected to be added back to the roster soon. The news on Von Rosenberg is less encouraging. Zack underperformed expectations last year. His velocity was down, he had trouble with his command and he got hit hard often. Staying behind in extended spring training is an obvious red flag, though it is unclear whether this is primarily to work on mechanics or there is also a health issue. .
