Hurdle said they're leaning toward bringing Charlie Morton back to the rotation after rehab start yesterday. #Pirates— Karen Price (@KarenPrice_Trib) April 10, 2012
Karen Price of the Trib tweets that the Pirates are leaning toward bringing Charlie Morton back after his very successful rehab start for Indianpolis last night. Morton's recovery from off-season hip surgery has worked out exactly as the Pirates hoped. While Charlie was ready to break camp with the team, the Bucs don't need a fifth starter until April 14 so they were able to get him some more work last night in AAA. Expect Morton to get the ball for the first time on the 14th in San Francisco. The more interesting decision may be which of Josh Harrison, Yamaico Navarro and Matt Hague gets sent to AAA to make room for Morton. If all goes well for AJ Burnett tomorrow in Bradenton, he shouldn't be far behind. UPDATE: Again from Karen Price, Morton is with the Pirates in LA and was introduced with the rest of the team. Expect him on the hill in San Francisco, Saturday 9:05 pm EST.
