All purpose Alex Presley to lead the way

Stay connected for news and updates

I have been big on Alex Presley since seeing him play in Altoona. The same reasons I became a fan are the reasons why I think he is the guy to lead this team by example. I was at the game where he had the game winning hit. You can't help but get excited about a guy who beats out a single to win the game. He hustles every chance he gets. If you didn't notice the next day, he was asked to sac bunt and he almost beat it out for a single. That is the kind of attitude that the rest of the team needs to have. In the same game, Pedro Alvarez got on by a throwing error, but if you noticed, half way down the base path he started jogging. He was lucky not to get thrown out even with the error. Later in the game he was pulled, I don't know if this was strategy or to send a message(I am hoping on the later.) This team is getting more talented, but the only way they are going to compete for a full season is with grit. Today we were given a gift by Matt Kemp. There is no excuse for a lead off single to be stranded at 3rd base. I understand that they are going against Kershaw, but if you are going to be a major leaguer, you need to be able to choke up and put the ball into play no matter who the pitcher is. I hope that Presley's attitude becomes infectious and this team becomes the feel good story of the year. I have said over and over again that this kid is not going to slump. The reason being, he will lay down a bunt for a single, beat out a dribbler in the whole and just flat out get on base. When you put the ball in play and have speed, good things happen.

And no I haven't trademarked the All Purpose Alex Presley yet, but if it becomes big we can all refer back to this post!
