White Angus's Report On The Altoona Curve, 4/14

(Angus went to the Curve game last night; here's his report. He was having trouble posting it so I took the liberty of converting his comment into a FanShot. I haven't changed anything except for running the autotagger. -- WHYGZS)

Brandon Cumpton was sitting 93-94 and was jamming the RH hitters all night. His offspeed needs to be more "off speed". His only mistake was an opposite field dinger that barely left the yard.

Tony Sanchez had two solid hits including a double over the RFs head and nearly had another double in the exact same spot later in the game. He looked really crisp behind the plate but his arm wasnt tested. The only complaint about Tony is that he looks like Moe Howard being chased by a psycho wife when running the bases.

Jarek Cunningham had an awful game but his bat speed is extremely impressive. He also looked very fluid turning the DP at 2B

Brock Holt was both great and awful. He looked decent at SS and got on base 3 times. However, he was picked off twice by the Richmond LHP when he guessed wrong on steal attempts.

Matt Curry looks in great shape and moved really well around the 1B bag. He also gets down the 1B line very well for a big guy. His swing is still beautiful without the leg kick.

The Curve’s defense was easily the star of the game, and Cumpton sawed off quite a few hitters including top Giants prospect Gary Brown. The Curve had two opportunities late to score, including a bases loaded 1 out situation where Cunningham did his best Bucs impression and hit into an inning ended DP. With 2 men on, Holt was robbed of a line drive xbh by a completely horizontal Gary Brown who snagged the drive maybe 2 inches off the turf in left center.

Player of the game: Brandon Cumpton
First to hit the showers: Jarek Cunningham
Towel w/shaving cream recipient: none
