Unfortunately, I did not get to see the game yesterday but I heard that Lincoln looked good out of the bullpen and was hitting 97mph with a nasty curve. I don't want to jump the gun but he has had a few nice outings coming out of the bullpen which got me thinking.
Should the Pirates deal Hanrahan (and they would be wise to do so IMO) could Lincoln be groomed as a potential closer? I know it is probably not what many of us had in mind when he was drafted 4th overall in 2006; however, with the rotation doing well and the depth in AAA with Owens, Locke, etc could it be out of the question that he could succeed there? He has a good enough fastball and the curve is coming along nicely as well.
Thoughts?
