The Red Sox are "canvassing every bullpen option out there," Stark hears from other teams.
Stark’s sources believe the Angels need bullpen help. "They've got major issues at the back end of the game," one person said.
I've been skeptical about the idea of trading Hanrahan because I'm doubtful the Pirates can get what they really need, which is a near-ML-ready position player with a high probability of being an above-average hitter for his position. They don't need to be trading for pitching depth and struggling former top prospects any more. But the Sox and Angels came into the season with high expectations and are facing extremely competitive environments due to the number of potentially very strong teams in the AL. So these comments all coming at once stood out to me.
